Instagram announced yesterday its new 2.5 features for iOS. The upload speed for photos is the most useful of the updates, none of which are too earth shaking. The "Explore" tab is now the "Popular" tab and the profile tab is re-vamped. They also added different ways to search and commenting improvements, and visual enhancements. The only noticeable influence of Facebook’s new ownership comes with the added Facebook feature that lets users share likes to Facebook

Android-users rejoice, as of today, Instagram, the popular photo-sharing app, is finally available for download in the Google Play Store. Up until this point, Instagram was iPhone-only.As long as your Android device is version 2.2 or later, you are ready to jump into the world of shooting and sharing vintage-looking photos of meals, children, and antique things. It should be noted that as of right now, Instagram will not play nice with any Android tablets.

Instagram 2.0 was unveiled just over a week ago, and the massive overhaul of the popular photo app saw a new interface, a handful of new filters, the ability to see their effects live, and tweaks and changes to some of the filters we'd grown so accustomed to in previous version.

It was only October of 2010 that Instagram hit the app store, competing with similar faux-vintage apps like Hipstamatic. Now, just 10 months later, Instagram has more than seven million users, who have uploaded more than 150 million pictures at a rate of 15 new photos every second.
