Behind the Scenes: John Botte, The 9-11 Photographs

We had the chance to speak with John about the opening of his new exhibit

We had the opportunity to check out John Botte’s “The 9-11 Photographs” exhibit before it officially opens to the public on Sunday, September 11. The exhibit contains about 20 large prints, many of which were made within the first 48 hours after the towers fell.Botte, who was a detective in the NYPD at the time, explained to me that it was rare for him to ever show up to work without his camera by his side. That infamous day was no exception.

The newest exhibit from celebrity photographer David Lachapelle, titled “From Darkness to Light,” opened last night at the Lever House in Manhattan, featuring five different pieces, including a gigantic room-length paper chain, three different collages of stickers and a 15x10’ relief collage.
