Most of the cameras we write about here at Popular Photography are made of familiar materials like plastic and magnesium alloy. But, the simple fact is you can make a camera out of almost anything. In fact, many of us as children took on the task of making a camera from an oatmeal container or even a match box. But why not something less conventional? A trash bin? Sure! A dead turtle? That's a little creepy, but why not? Photographers are creative people and their imaginations don't end, or even begin with the photograph. Here's a collection of cameras made from odd objects.

UPDATE: A representative from Eric Guillemain's camp reached out to us with a statement: "The magazine can surely confirm the real facts as they had 2 persons on set in charge of the production of the shooting.  They were preparing the set when the photographer Eric Guillemain was on his side preparing his cameras at the OPPOSITE side of the room waiting for them to take care of the set." 

Come March 12 of this year, you'll be able to bid on prints by one of the most famed living photographers, William Eggleston. Christie's is holding an auction of 36 of his photographs, which are expected to bring in more than $2.7 million for the Eggleston Artistic Trust.

They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, and some of the submissions to The Booooooom + Adobe Remake photo project certainly pay beautiful homage to the original masterpieces. The contest, which ended in October urged photographers to re-creating classic works of art (mostly paintings) using photography only (no heavy Photoshop work).
