Tamron Expands Nikon Compatibility of 13.9x Zoom Lens

Tamron has introduced a new Nikon-mount version of its AF18-250mm F/3.5-6.3 Di-II LD Aspherical (IF) Macro lens, one of our 2007 Pop Awards winners. The new lens incorporates a built-in motor to make it compatible with Nikon cameras that do not use body-driven autofocus motors, such as the D40 and D40x digital SLRs. The lens is designed to be used with those cameras and other models that use APS-C-size sensors.

The new lens will be available in mid-December 2007 for a retail price of $499. Buyers should be careful to distinguish it from existing stock of the previous iteration of this lens with a Nikon mount, which does not support the same autofocus system. The manufacturer's model number for the new lens is A18N II.
