Sigma announced that the APO 70-200mm F2.8 EX DG MACRO HSM, their new large aperture telephoto zoom lens will be available in next few weeks. Introduced at PMA 2006, the lens is optimized for digital SLR cameras - with a minimum focusing distance of 100cm and a maximum magnification ratio of 1:3.5.
The lens is said to offer a super multi layer coating reduce flare and ghost, a common problem with digital cameras. Low Dispersion glass is utilized for utmost correction of chromatic aberrations. It is also said to provide ultra quiet high-speed autofocusing as well as full-time manual focus override.
This large aperture telephoto zoom lens has a minimum focusing distance of 100cm (39.4”) throughout the entire zoom range. The says it is ideal for close-up photography. It maintains a greater working distance that enables the user to capture small animals and insects without disturbing them.
The lens design incorporates an inner focusing and inner zooming systems. The overall length of the lens does not change during focusing and zooming, ensuring convenient handling. An inner focusing system also eliminates front lens rotation, making the lens particularly suitable for using the petal-type lens hood supplied and circular polarizing filters. A removable tripod collar (TS-21) is included as a standard component.
The APO 70-200mm lens is compatible with full-frame digital SLR cameras as well as both digital or film SLR cameras.
