Tamron has added three new lenses—a 17-50mm exclusively designed for use with the smaller APS-C size images sensors and two lenses that are compatible with both film and DSLRs: a 28-200mm Macro and a 70-300mm Macro.
The new SP AF 17-50mm F/2.8 XR Di II LD Aspherical [IF] is said to give digital photographers a true wide angle zoom. The lens (Model A16) is compact, lightweight and features a fast F/2.8 aperture. The lens offers a minimum focus distance of 10.6” through the entire zoom range. It also incorporates a zoom lock and features a 67mm filter size. The lens comes in Nikon AF-D, Canon AF, and Konica Minolta AF-D compatible mounts.
The AF 28-200mm F/3.8-5.6 XR Di Aspherical [IF] Macro, (Model A31) is an enhanced version of a popular Tamron lens made for film and digital SLRs. The lens has a filter size of 62mm and is compatible with the following lens mounts: Nikon AF-D, Canon AF, Konica Minolta AF-D, and Pentax AF.
The AF 70-300mm F/4-5.6 Di LD Macro 1:2 (Model A17) is also an updated version of a popular Tamron lens that can now be used with either film or digital SLRs. The lens features both 300mm ultra telephoto as well as a Macro feature,which can be used in the focal length range of 180-300mm. The lens features a filter diameter of 62mm, minimum aperture of F/32 and lens mount compatibility with Nikon AF-D, Canon AF, Konica Minolta AF-D, and Pentax AF mounts. All three lenses will be available this spring.
