The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W50's combination of features and compactness – it’s about the size of a deck of cards – made this little gem one of the top-selling digital cameras in the U.S. during 2006. Priced to sell at around $250, this digicam offers six-megapixel image resolution, light-sensitivity settings up to ISO 1000, a Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar 3x optical zoom lens, and MPEG1 movie recording. The placement of this camera’s review button tripped us up at first, but on the whole the W50 was easy to master. The 2.5-inch LCD screen is bright and crisp, and the camera’s metal-alloy body is sturdy enough to throw in the pocket or purse. In short, this is a solid entry-level point-and-shoot for the right price.
