A compact digital camera based on the Ricoh GR 35mm film camera, this model combines an advanced feature set with a retractable fixed-focal-length lens. Ricoh touts the optical quality of the 28mm (35mm equivalent) lens, which has an aperture range of f/2.4-11. There are numerous physical controls on the GR Digital body, as well as a hotshoe for mounting an external flash. You can also mount the optional GV-1 optical viewfinder on the hotshoe to supplement the LCD viewfinder. This camera offers manual, aperture-priority, and programmed automatic exposure modes, although there's no shutter-priority mode. Notable features include autobracketing for exposure and white balance, simultaneous JPEG and RAW recording, a timelapse mode, and a macro mode that gets as close as 1.5 centimeters. The GR Digital is compatible with the optional GW-1 21mm (35mm equivalent) conversion lens.
