The ultracompact Caplio GX100 offers an optically stabilized wide-angle zoom lens in addition to a removable electronic viewfinder. The lens is an f/2.5-4.4, 24mm-72mm (35mm equivalent) 4x zoom lens, and the EVF attaches to the camera’s hotshoe to provide an eyepiece viewing option that offers a clear and accurate view in difficult lighting situations. The GX100 also uses Ricoh’s Smooth Imaging Engine II processor, and features 10 automatic shooting modes, both RAW and RAW+JPEG capture modes, white-balance bracketing, manual focus, a time-lapse mode and spot and center-weighted metering. And for those medium-format film photographers who miss the square when shooting digital, the GX100 offers a Square Mode to capture images with a 1:1 aspect ratio.
