The 8-megapixel Pentax Optio Z10 features a f/3.5-5.4, 38mm-266mm (35mm equivalent) internal zoom lens and 230,000-pixel, 2.5-inch LCD with a 170-degree viewing angle. The camera offers up-to-date features such as face detection autofocus and autoexposure, redeye correction, and Pentax's Auto Picture mode, which determines the appropriate scene mode for a photograph automatically. The Z10 offers a continuous-shooting mode that captures photos as 2.5fps and a video mode that captures 640x480, 30fps video with sound. Although the Z10 doesn't offer manual exposure options, it gives the photographer creative control via spot and center-weighted metering modes, spot and tracking autofocus, ISO settings up to 1600 (or 3200 at a reduced resolution), and adjustable flash output. The camera also provides a separate voice recorder function. The Optio Z10 will be available beginning September 2007 with a MSRP of $249.95.
