A very compact, lightweight digital SLR, the *ist DS offers amateur photographers standard manual and automatic exposure modes and a modest selection of programmed automatic scene modes. This camera provides ample color options and image-parameter adjustments. Among its notable features are a high-quality viewfinder, depth-of-field previewing, high-speed external flash sync, wireless off-camera flash control, spot metering, and 18 custom functions. The Pentax *ist DS2 is a minor update of this model.
