Canon PowerShot A550

Canon PowerShot A550

Price (MSRP): $199.99
Megapixel: 7.1
TYPE: Digital Compact

The 7.1-megapixel Canon PowerShot A550 offers a 4x zoom lens, 2-inch LCD, optical viewfinder, curved grip, and smooth VGA video capture with sound. The A550 is powered by AA batteries, and Canon claims battery life is improved over its predecessor, the A530. Canon has also redesigned the camera's mode dial for more efficient access to popular scene modes, and the camera is compatible with the new high-capacity SDHC memory card format, as well as SD and MMC cards. The A550 features 11 standard shooting modes. One knock is that the camera does not provide the manual exposure control that some more expensive A-series models do, but it does allow basic adjustments to automatic settings. This point-and-shoot emphasizes ease of use with features such as one-touch image transfer and print functions, and comes with software for managing downloaded photos. The Canon PowerShot A550 was released in February 2007 for the retail price of $199.99.
