This top-of-the-line 35mm SLR is housed in a sturdy moisture- and dust-proof magnesium alloy body with a shutter rated to last for 150,000 shots. The 1V can achieve a continuous shooting speed of 10fps with Canon's optional Power Drive Booster PB-E2 and NP-E2 battery pack, which can be purchased separately or as part of the EOS-1VHS kit. Among this camera's notable features are 100% viewfinder coverage, 45 selectable autofocus points (including 7 cross-type points) and a linkable 2.4% spot meter, multispot metering with up to 8 points, 9 focusing screen options, 20 custom functions, and a built-in eyepiece shutter. It's compatible with Canon's downloadable EOS Link Software ES-E1, which allows further customization. The software also lets you download and organize shooting data from the camera, which can be matched to frames of film through the use of tracking numbers recorded on the film leaders. The 1V is compatible with Canon's E-TTL and A-TTL external flash systems.
