The VII Photo Agency has scheduled its next seminar to take place at the Parsons School of Design on Sunday, September 17, 2006.
This one-day seminar will feature a photographic presentation by Eugene Richards, who joined VII in April. Other photographic presentations will be given by Lauren Greenfield, Christopher Morris, James Nachtwey and John Stanmeyer.
Rounding out the day will be four panel discussions: THE WAR: 9/11 through to Iraq; THE WAY FORWARD: VII and the Role of Photojournalism in documenting the social issues of our time; CONGO: The Forgotten War; and 24/7: The Rise of Arab Media. These panels will include all ten of the VII photographers, plus Simon Barnett of Newsweek, Scott Thode of Fortune Magazine, Kathy Ryan of New York Times Magazine, senior representatives from Time Magazine, Al Jazeera, Medecins Sans Frontiers (Doctors Without Borders) and many others. The seminar will also include portfolio reviews and multimedia screenings.
One-day seminar tickets are $100 or $50 for students. Limited portfolio review packages with seminar passes are $300.
The New York VII Seminar 2006 coincides with the fifth anniversary of the VII Photo Agency, which was founded on Sept. 9, 2001, and the opening reception of Christopher Morris' new exhibition, "My America," at the Hasted Hunt Gallery in Chelsea on Sept. 14.
