Other features: a powerful Intel Viiv processor, 360GB hard drive, dual tuners, including broadcast HD, DVD±RW drive in the PC component (the disc changer also has DVD±RW), hidden memory card readers, HDMI HDTV and component connectors, wireless remote control, and keyboard with touchpad. It also includes support for 7.1 surround-sound systems, built-in Bluetooth, IR, and Wi-Fi network capabilities, an HDMI cable, and an extensive software bundle with Adobe Premiere and Photoshop Elements, Sony’s Life Flow Screen Saver, Click-to-DVD, and SonicStage Mastering Studio.
One of the most useful features of the Sony XL2 system is its centralized media capabilities. You can fill the disc changer with up to 200 music CDs and automatically copy and organize (with metadata downloaded from the Internet) all of your songs onto the computer hard drive, quickly accessed in a home theater or by other connected PCs. Then you can put up to 200 DVD movies in the changer for quick access.
Sure, these entertainment systems are expensive. But for some, the convenience of boosting your home theater into imaging overdrive with a stylish, well-designed component might be worth the extra bucks.
