Chances are that most of you own at least one camera. But I'm curious. Have you been bitten by the camera bug yet? The darn thing is harder to spot than a lime tick and causes a strange neurological disorder know as “shutterbug-itis”. Most afflicted camera owners are unaware that they've been infected, but those closest to them notice a gradual change in behavior and buying habits within a year after the initial bite event (a clinical term). Untreated, this illness can lead to photo addiction.

Even though there's no known cure, there's also no need to worry—it's not fatal, and in some cases can cause incredible enjoyment, or even become the basis for a steady income. However, in an effort to publicize this affliction and caution future camera owners, I'd like to get your stories about how you got bitten by the bug. You can remain anonymous (just like a 12-step program) by posting your stories in The McNamara Report forums for others to read. Who knows, you might help someone who's going through the same thing you are.
To get this online meeting started, I'd like to share my story: My name's Mike, and I'm a photo addict. I still remember quite clearly the first time I had the thought “Wow! This would make a great picture!” That's not an unusual thought, but at the time I didn't even own a camera. And more importantly, this thought popped into my head while I was gasping for air on roof of a burning gas station!
