Casio Exilim EX-Z1080 and EX-V8 The 8.1-megapixel EX-V8 and 10.1-megapixel EX-Z1080 both offer very slim designs. The V8 provides an f/3.4-5.3, 38mm-266mm (35mm camera equivalent) 7x internal zoom lens and a 230,400-pixel, 2.5-inch LCD, as well as sensor-shift optical image stabilization. The Z1080 offers a more modest f/2.8-5.1, 38mm-114mm 3x lens and a 2.6-inch, 114,960-pixel widescreen display, and does not offer optical stabilization. It's notable that the designs and lenses of these cameras bear a striking resemblance to those of the Optio S10 and Z10 models recently introduced by Pentax. The two new models both offer strong video features, including 848x480 and 640x480 recording in the space-efficient H.264 format. The V8 provides numerous automatic video scene modes, and both cameras offer a "YouTube Capture Mode" and come with YouTube Uploader for Casio software. The $329.99 V8 and $279.99 Z1080 will be available in September 2007. The V8 comes in silver and the Z1080 in gray, black, blue, and pink finishes.
