Nikon has done an excellent job of keeping noise under control with its recent DSLRs. If you showed me this image 5 years ago and said it was shot at ISO 800 I wouldn't have believed you. Yet, even at ISO 800, the D700 keeps the image acceptably sharp, with vibrant, accurate color and lots of detail, even in the shadows and highlights.
