The advanced AF system on the D300 can track a subject by color, and tends to lock on skin tones quickly, as shown in the following screen grabs from Capture NX. 1/200 sec at f/3.2, ISO 200. -33 stop eV compensation. Fill flash from popup. 135mm focal length on 135mm lens.
