Close up shots are made easier using the cameras live view mode. I had to reach out over a running stream to get close enough to lichen-encrusted log, and used the 3-inch monitor to compose the shot. Photo taken with Canon EF 28-70mm f/2.8 L USM lens, 1/100 sec at f/5, ISO 400 at 35mm. +2/3 stop exposure.
