SGT Nick Sprovtsoff of Flint, Michigan looks at a slideshow of images from home before going to bed. Sprovtsoff, 24, was in the final months of his third combat tour since joining the marines when he was eighteen. He was living in a remote outpost in Eastern Afghanistan, training and patrolling with a squad of Afghan soldiers. His previous two deployments had been to Iraq, where he saw heavy fighting and lost one of his closest friends.
