Saguaros
by Mark Klett (Radius Books, $75)
Originally called Desert Citizens, Klett's stunningly produced monograph explores the long-held belief that the saguaro cactus houses the soul of a deceased person. Klett's "portraits" show the plants radiating personality and mimicking human gestures; in one image, a cactus wraps its arm around a neighbor. Even Mother Nature has a sense of humor. -- l.s.
