After three months of clicking and cruising, we have found exemplary Websites from ten very different photographers, each of whom is taking the medium into new areas and new levels of communication.

Abrar, a native of Iran, and Hoving, from the Netherlands, began their careers as a fashion and editorial photography team in 2004, after meeting as students at the Ecal Art School in Lausanne, Switzerland. Currently based in that country, the pair, working under the name Anoush, have already shown their images in several museums, including the Musée de l'Eysée in Switzerland and the Maison Européene de la Photographie in Paris, and in magazines like W, Vogue Hommes International, New York, Colors, and Slash. Their two-year-old Website is a textbook case of simplicity and functionality winning out over flash. That, says Anoush, is because she designed the site herself, using Dreamweaver software. "I wanted to do something without a million animated elements, primarily because I didn't know how to do those kinds of things," she says. Even with the relatively easy-to-use Dreamweaver program, Anoush decided not to push the technological limits available to her: "I probably used about two percent of the program." Her main reason for doing it herself? "I wanted to be able to change the site whenever I wanted," she says.

Web Philosophy: "For me a Website must be quick. You must find the information very fast. If the pictures are nice you don't need to put fancy stuff around them to make them nicer."
