The Iconographic Portrait
Leibovitz: "I started doing studio portraits in the '80s, when I had a large working space on Vandam Street. I did a lot of the work for the first Gap portrait campaign there. The pictures of Brice Marden and Tony Kushner come from that work. Then I moved to an even larger studio on 26th Street, but the productions got so big that I felt that the situation was out of control. It's one of the reasons I sold the 26th Street building."

Demi Moore, 1991.
