This "swinging bunt" works for the most part because the left-handed batter was captured from third base side (Position 1 in our diagram), and because the ball is in the frame and very near the bat. Choosing exposure manually allowed me to meter for the shadowed skintones, which shows her expression, making for a stronger shot. Canon EOS 1D MIIN with Sigma 120-300 f/2.8 at 261mm.
