We saw two new budget compacts from Canon at CES, but their newest batch of small cameras are packing more photographic firepower. Here's an overview broken down by camera. SX230 HS

OK, so it's not the 5D Mark III announcement some of you have been hoping for, but Canon has two new entry-level models ready for market at the end of March. The T3i is, predictably, the update to the Rebel T2i, which uses the same 18-megapixel CMOS sensor and Digic 4 processor as its predecessor.

German photographer Robert Voit has documented cell-phone towers disguised as huge trees since 2003, but he came upon the subject by accident. “I was working on a project about the Christmas season, and I was searching the Internet for production facilities for [fake] Christmas trees,” Voit recalls. “I had in my mind an overview of a plastic forest in one of those plants. But when I came across a picture of a mobile-phone tree online, I immediately left everything behind! I refocused and it turned into another story.”

Andy Teo, a family physician from Yateley, Hampshire, UK, has a thing for 1950s sci-fi flicks—the ones with flying saucers that were really pie pans swinging from strings. Teo’s Flickr stream (flickr.com/photocillin) has dozens of pictures in which he transforms kitchen utensils and children’s toys in surprising ways.
